For over twenty years, the Grand Rapids Griffins Youth Foundation (GYF) has been breaking down financial and logistical barriers that prevent children from playing hockey.
Serving 350 boys and girls annually – many of whom are at-risk, underprivileged, underserved, or have other special needs – GYF’s programs are free of charge, with equipment and ice time covered by the foundation. Programs include co-ed hockey instruction for children in grades 1-12, girls’ hockey for grades 6-12, and co-ed sled hockey for children and teens with physical disabilities.
GYF also promotes academic excellence, community involvement, and healthy lifestyles among the youth in their programs. These valuable life lessons will stay with them for years to come, both on and off the ice.
